FD Associates seeks a candidate to fulfill the Senior Associate - Technical role.

The primary responsibility for this position involves export jurisdiction and classification analysis in the form of supporting the company associates of hardware, software, and technology to be exported, preparing export jurisdiction and classification position papers for our client base who are making business decisions based on these determinations, preparation of formal government filings: Commodity Jurisdiction and Commodity Classification Application Tracking. Our diverse client base provides an excellent opportunity to spread your skill set beyond defense and aerospace into space, computers/network equipment, encryption, medical, science, and industrial technologies.
In performing this work, you will be responsible for both narrative and persuasive writing in the development of this work product provided to clients or the government, which is founded on inherent knowledge of the US Munitions and the Commerce Control List. Training in other areas of FD Associates' work product offerings, including guidance to the client on the export control rules applicable to the classified hardware, software, or technology, will be available to the qualified candidate.
Requirements:
- Engineer BA, MA preferred or 5 years related work experience directly in positions responsible for classification efforts for a defense contractor.
- Background in export/import regulations (ITAR, EAR, ATF, FTR, OFAC, FCPA, Customs), Export Control Reform, Compliance programs, Export Jurisdiction, classifications self-classification, Voluntary Disclosures, export licensing and license exemptions/exceptions, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), Commodity Jurisdiction requests. Commodity Classification Requests, Technology Control Plans, and the shipping process is required.
- Strong writing, communication, training, and research skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with general guidance and as a team player
- Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities among a wide array of projects
- Sound judgment, professional demeanor, good work ethic, and business acumen
- Strong MS Office skills required
- Working knowledge of the export regulations referenced is required.
- The position is on-site 4 days a week at FD Associates offices in Tysons Corner, VA.
- Limited travel may be required in the future.
Salary/Benefits:
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Senior Associate $165 - $190K
- Vacation/Sick ( 2 weeks(1-2 yr), 3 weeks(3-5 yr), 4 weeks (6 yr and beyond)

Position Purpose:

The Senior Compliance Associate knows the ITAR/EAR and FTR like the back of their hand and relishes helping companies solve complex compliance situations with investigation, disclosure, training, procedures updates, and auditing.
A Senior Compliance Associate's primary responsibility is to investigate non-compliance with ITAR/EAR/FTR/OFAC, prepare voluntary disclosures, and implement follow-on corrective action. Additional responsibilities involve the analysis of export & sanctions regulations and application to client transactions, development of commodity/technology classifications for complex items, use of narrative and persuasive writing skills to develop position papers for such products, the preparation and filing of Commodity Jurisdictions and Commodity Classifications for sophisticated products and technology, supporting the development and provision of targeted export compliance training, supporting clients with investigation, preparation and filing of voluntary disclosures to various government agencies, aiding clients with the development and implementation and updates to compliance plans, manuals and procedures, training and the conduct of reviews and audits of export compliance programs.
The position will require the occasional drafting of export licenses with the State and Commerce.
Travel may be required.

Position Purpose:
FD Associates seeks a candidate to fulfill the role of Associate to support its client base with ITAR & EAR licensing requirements, the management of the export licensing process and working in the Department of State system DECCS and Department of Commerce system, SNAPR. The role is both licensing and developmental role, with on the job training in advanced licensing, license exceptions and export classification work. The selected candidate will support our senior associates in these requirements and develop their own client base to advise on.
