Export Jurisdiction and Classification analysis plays a fundamental role in U.S. national security and the foreign policy of the United States. Exporters are responsible for ensuring that they properly classify their products, software and technology in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations. Missteps in the process can result in harm to U.S. national security and foreign policy.
Position Purpose:
FD Associates seeks a technical candidate to fulfill the role of Junior Associate/Associate Technical position to support its staff with assessments of export jurisdiction (ITAR or EAR) and export classification (USML or CCL ECCNs) for its client base products, software and technology.
Tasks will include preparation of export jurisdictional classification position papers, preparation and filing in the government system Commodity Jurisdiction Request and Commodity Classification Requests.
Other tasks may include ITAR & EAR licenses filed in the Department of State system DECCS and Department of Commerce system, SNAPR.
The selected candidate will support the FD Associates clients and associates. If not familiar with the ITAR and EAR, training will be provided on the Order of Review applicable to the ITAR US Munitions List and EAR Commerce Control List.
Training will be provided for export license preparation in accordance with the ITAR or EAR and the government licensing instructions, and in house and external training in the ITAR and EAR.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree aerospace engineering required.
- 0-3 years related work experience directly in positions responsible for export jurisdictional and classification analysis preferred
- Background in export/import regulations – ITAR & EAR helpful,!!

- Strong writing, communication, training, and research skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with general guidance and as a team player.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities among a wide array of projects.
- Sound judgment, professional demeanor, good work ethic, and business acumen
- Strong MS Product skills required.
- Position is on site at our Northern Virginia office
